Julia passed away at 5:10 AM, on September 27, 2011 in Brenham, Texas. Julia's passing came to her quietly in her sleep, may she now and forever rest in peace. Julia is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (aka Dottie) Pacharis; grandchildren, Lisa Roark, Patricia Lara, Sherry McNeil, Chris Baker, Shannon Pagan, Jodie Hill and Shelli Galvan. Julia is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren along with six great-great grandchildren. At the age of two her family moved to Corsicana, Texas to a 115 acre farm where her father farmed cotton, corn and raised cattle. Julia married Robert Wilson Varner on September 12, 1939, and relocated to Houston where they had three children Judy Mae Varner, Dorothy (Dottie) Ann Varner and Raymond Wilson Varner. Julia also raised her two granddaughters Lisa and Patricia after her oldest daughter was involved in a fatal car accident in 1969. Julia's memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on December 6, 2011, in the Chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, Texas. This postponed date was selected to accommodate those who have busy travel and medical appointment schedules along with military obligations. Immediately following this service, there will be a graveside burial of her ashes.
